Salt Pots
When cooking or baking, I realize how essential salt is - it's truly an irreplaceable ingredient. I've always cherished it, especially since I love dishes and sweets that highlight the depth of salt.
One day, I felt inspired to create a special vessel just for salt. In my research, I learned that as far back as the Jomon period, people were already crafting earthenware for making salt.
Over time, salt pots have evolved in shape, firing methods, and craftsmanship. That history made me think—why not continue this tradition today? These salt pots are both practical and well-suited to my current life in Thailand. I love the dry, textured surface, which I felt complemented salt, so I originally left them unglazed. However, in Thailand, where my workspace is limited, I'm experimenting with glazes and new finishes. This journey abroad is pushing my craft to new heights.
