Table Wares
The comforting feel when held, the smooth touch against the lips, and the colors and patterns that enhance the beauty of food and sweets. These are things that are felt, not spoken. As women, I believe we naturally understand such things.
Looking back, I realize I've always been creating pieces like these. I've loved the aesthetics of folk crafts, traditional shapes, and colors. I've always been drawn to the soft texture of kohiki ware. These preferences remain unchanged within me. Recently, I've also been enjoying incorporating Mishima patterns and stamping into my work.
Since becoming an acupuncturist, I've become more aware of what I've learned from my patients. As we age, our grip strength weakens, and pain in the fingers can make it easier to drop tableware… That's why I wanted to create lightweight bowls and cups that fit comfortably in the hand. A life where we can enjoy meals, coffee, or tea without straining our hands, but instead with a sense of ease and richness. If my work can contribute to that, I would be truly happy.
